While the city has witnessed flash mobs put up by professional dancers in malls earlier, this was the city's first ever full-scale citizen flash mob. Zumba dance instructor Jegatha Muralidharan and her friend Vijay Tupurani took it upon themselves to organize the Hyderabad flash mob with the help of their friends. Word spread fast through social networking sites and emails, and quite a few Hyderabadis turned up to be part of the jig. "We put up the act only for fun and to promote dancing in Hyderabad. It was not to endorse any cause or promotion. After the mall authorities gave us the necessary permission, 25 of us prepared for a week. The act kicked off with my friend Vijaya and I breaking into a jig to the tunes of "Sweat" by Snoop Dogg at the mall, and then everyone else followed," says Jegatha who runs a zumba fitness centre.
