The Chennai Box-Office for the weekend is booming, thanks to Shah Rukh Khan`s Chennai Express.
The film has netted approximately Rs 4.5 Crore from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, with a distributor`s share of approximately Rs 2.25 Cr. Nearly 65 % of this must have come from Chennai city and suburbs, the biggest market for Hindi films in this area.
Chennai Express leads the Eid weekend in Chennai and is the number one at CBO. After many months a Hindi film is opening in the number one slot at the CBO.The postponement of Thalaivaa release in Tamil Nadu helped Chennai Express to get that super opening as they got more screens and prime shows.
In the second place is the horror movie The Conjuring which got more screens and shows due to good word of mouth and Thalaivaa`s `No Show`. In the third place is Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu, which suddenly released on Saturday (Aug 10) to cash in on Thalaivaa`s postponement. In the fourth place is Pattathu Yaanai and at number five is Singam, due to lack of strong Tamil content.
