Based on the radio show authored by Frank Striker and George Trendle way back in the year 1933, ‘The Lone Ranger’ is a famous fictional character that was made more popular through
several radio series, television serials, film serials etc besides gaining further by toys, video games, novels, comic strips, books etc. The successful producer-director duo of the hugely patronized through ‘Pirates of the Carribbean’ series, not once but thrice- producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski along with Johnny Depp, the lead star of all the three films in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow-have joined hands once for this action adventure laced with humor that is also being released in Tamil simultaneously on the 5th of July. Tonto (Johnny Depp) is a Camanche warrior belonging to a tribe of innocent people. Infuriated by a bunch of people who endangered and ruined their village, he sets out in search of them after having been sent out of the tribe. By chance, he meets a young but wounded lawyer John Reid ( Armie Hammer) and helps him recover. In the process, he transforms him into The Lone Ranger-, a crusader for causes who, along with Tonto on toe, launches a battle against those who harm people and property for their own gains. Even after catching up with those responsible for the ruin of Tonto’s tribe, The Lone Ranger with a mask on his face continues his crusade, fighting against greed and corruption. It is interesting to note initially John was a person opposed to violence much against the deliverance of justice through gunshots but the turn of events had triggered him to turn into an enigmatic hero, the masked ‘Lone Ranger!
